Fans Can't Get Over David Letterman's Blunder While Making Bold Statement About Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

David Letterman is officially "Team Taylor," but he's got his Kelce/Kelsey's a little mixed up.

While offering his two cents on the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce media frenzy, the former late-night host had nothing but nice things to say—at least when it comes to the "Breathe" songstress, of whom he says, "in the history of show business, in the history of popular culture, we've ever witnessed anything like."

"We live in a world now where all we hear is nonsense and ugliness," he lamented, calling Swift a "glowing bright light of goodness in the world" as she continues to dominate headlines for her relationship with the Chiefs player, for her generous treatment of stadium employeesher stunning street style, and more.

There's been an almost inexplicable explosion in popularity ever since she started going out with the tight end—which CNBC's Mad Money host Jim Cramer dubbed an "unplanned phenomenon"—but, if you ask Letterman, it's Kelsey Grammer that's got people going "crazy."

"The Kelsey Grammer people say, 'Oh no, no, no, don't bother us, we're all caught up in football. We don't want Taylor in football.' And the Taylor Swift people—the Swifties—are saying, 'Oh, we don't want a footballer in here with-"

His team cut him off, not for the first time, to emphasize that it's actually Travis Kelce he was talking about, but he was unfazed. "Right, Travis Kelce. And I say to both camps: This is such a lovely thing. Shut up!"

Just as the Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill has implied, Letterman added, "It's good for the footballers, it's good for Taylor Swift, and it's something positive and happy for the world."

While Swifties always love to hear someone else has hopped aboard the hype train—especially after the years most people spent dragging the artist—they couldn't get over the Freudian slip, with one person begging for a mashup of the two with Grammer playing piano.

"@New Heights Kelsey Grammer moving in 🤣🤣🤣," one fan joked in the comments, tagging Travis' podcast with his brother, Jason.

"My brain on a loop now: 'Ok so Travis Kelce is to Frasier Crane as Jason Kelce is to NILES?!?!'" another pondered.

"WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG TO CORRECT HIM!!!!! 😂😂," someone else wanted to know, but, to his team's credit, they tried!
