Robert Irwin Narrowly Misses Python Bite in Heart-Racing Rescue Video

Robert Irwin brought fans along on a recent rescue of a carpet python on the side of the road that almost led to a bite to the face.

The 19-year-old shared a video of the incident on TikTok, writing, "Near miss! Definitely had a good laugh with this grumpy carpet python - but great to get him reacued [sic] off the road and relocated to a much safer spot!"

In the clip, Robert crouches close to a snake on the side of the road at night. He lies down on his stomach while looking at the snake and saying, "Look at this big boy! Look at the size of him!" Robert is then interrupted by the snake as it lunges for his face, narrowly missing him.

He recovers quickly, laughing nervously as he says, "Geez, that gets the heart rate up!" While holding his pointer finger and thumb about an inch apart, Robert adds, "He missed me by that much!... Man, you see how close that was to my face? You woulda felt that!"

The almost-bite doesn't seem to put Robert off, as he stays close to the snake, explaining, "But he is probably worked up 'cause he's on the road." He also noted that the carpet python is not venomous, yet it has very large teeth.

He continues narrating as he attempts to pick up the carpet python, avoiding a few more swipes before successfully grabbing the snake. With a smile on his face, Robert also details how the python kills its prey, all while this snake cuts off the blood flow to his hand.

In the rest of the clip, Robert and whoever he is with bring the snake into the car and keep it overnight. In the morning, they travel to a new, safer area and let the snake go back into the wild.

"Only an Irwin can say 'I've lost complete blood flow to my arm' as casually as thatπŸ˜‚," wrote a fan in the comments, as another joked, "POV: You’re heading to a dinner date with Robert Irwin πŸ˜…πŸ˜…."

Many more were reminded of his late father, Steve Irwin, and how he interacted with wildlife, with one declaring, "He truly is his fathers son πŸ˜‚."

Someone else said, "I FEEL LIKE IM WATCHING STEVE IRWIN πŸ₯°."

In addition to Robert, Steve and his wife, Terri Irwin, also welcomed a daughter named Bindi Irwin in 1998, and after Steve's death, the Irwin family has continued his legacy of conservation and respecting wildlife.
