‘So Sad’ Rumer Willis Remembers Dad Bruce’s Late Co-Star Matthew Perry

Friends, family, fans and co-stars of the late Matthew Perry continue to share their reactions to the sad news of his passing, and Rumer Willis, 35, the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, lamented Perry's death with a particularly sweet message about him.

Willis and Perry co-starred in The Whole Nine Yards and its sequel, The Whole Ten Yards, in the early 2000s. At the time of the first film's release in 2000, Rumer would have been around 12 years old.

She shared her thoughts in an Instagram Story on Oct. 29, writing, "I'm so sad to hear about Matthew Perry passing. When I was a kid and I was on Set while he and my dad were doing whole nine and whole 10 yards he was so kind and funny and sweet with my sisters and me and I think his physical Comedy and that movie still makes me laugh so much."

Rumer went on, "I know he had many challenges in his life and brought a lot of joy to people with his comedy I hope he can rest peacefully."

Willis' wife, Emma Heming Willis, also shared a meaningful tribute to Perry on her Instagram Stories, posting a clip of an interview from when he and Bruce promoted The Whole Ten Yards.

In the clip, the two talked about why they had great chemistry on screen. Willis responded, "We’re pals," before Perry said, "We enjoy making each other laugh and having a good time and hopefully, people will enjoy watching that.”

Willis appeared to have made quite the impact on Perry, and he wrote about their relationship in his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir, which came out late last year.

Perry recalled how, during filming for The Whole Nine Yards and the sequel, the two would sometimes end up talking in the quiet after a party.

"That's when I saw the real Bruce Willis — a good-hearted man, a caring man, selfless," he wrote. "A wonderful parent. And a wonderful actor. And most important, a good guy."

The Friends actor went on to say, "And if he wanted me to be, I would be his friend for life. But as is the way with so many of these things, our paths rarely crossed after that."

Despite that, Perry shared a kind note last year when Willis' aphasia diagnosis was revealed.

He wrote on X, "Dear Bruce Willis, I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through, but you're still the coolest man I've met in my entire life. You will remain in my prayers for a long long time. Maybe we should get together and watch the whole 10 yards and get a couple of hours of sleep."

Along with the two films they starred in together, Willis also appeared in Friends as a guest star for a few episodes in season 6. His appearance came about after he bet against Perry, arguing that The Whole Nine Yards wouldn't be a success. He lost, and the rest is history.
