Chipotle's 'Boorito' Deal Is Back for Halloween With a Spooky Twist
It's that time of year again, and everyone is getting into the Halloween spirit of spooky season—including Chipotle!
The Mexican food chain is continuing its tradition of offering free eats on the upcoming October holiday, and this year, there's even more time for fans to take advantage of the deal.
Chipotle's signature Boorito promotion makes a comeback with a $6 digital entrée offer from 3 PM to close on Oct. 31, for rewards members only. And, for the first time ever, the restaurant is even extending its operating hours until midnight in select college towns—so there's still time to head over and grab a bite to eat after taking part in the festivities.
Additionally, this year’s deal will also feature the chain’s debut of Tabasco Scorpion Sauce. The first 100 digital orders placed between 10 p.m. local time and midnight at each of the 53 locations open late will receive an exclusive bottle of the sauce, which is made with one of the most intense peppers, Chipotle claims.
"Boorito has become a mainstay for Chipotle. This year, our digital offer makes it even easier for fans to fuel their Halloween celebrations with real food," Chris Brandt, chief brand officer, said in a statement.
To redeem the $6 entrée offer, Rewards members must use the “Boorito” promo code when ordering digitally via Chipotle's app and Chipotle.com on Oct. 31 starting at 3 PM.
According to the company, the decision to keep its doors open later was made after it was revealed that over the past two years, Chipotle has experienced a 30% increase in transactions after 8 PM on Halloween, and 81% of 18–26-year-olds surveyed reported they desire the eatery to stay open until midnight. As a result, 53 restaurants will extend their hours for one day only.
The Boorito promo has been running since 2000, originally starting with a burrito-themed costume contest on Halloween (who remembers when you had to dress up like an actual burrito in order to take advantage of the freebie?). In subsequent years, guests in costume on Halloween were treated to discounted entrées or a free burrito.
