Rapper Doechii Wears Jeans and a Little Pink Top at the 2023 BET Awards

We have rapper Doechii to thank for bringing jeans back to award shows.

On June 25, the "What It Is" artist hit the red carpet at the 2023 BET Awards held in Los Angeles, Calif., and she wore an itty-bitty pink bikini top and low-rise denim jeans for the occasion.

It didn't take long for fans of the hit maker to applaud her casual, yet spicy ensemble. In fact, many praised Doechii for reviving the once-popular early '00s style.

"i’m feeling it idk," one fan declared on Twitter. Another chimed in, "so y2k of her."

A third even wrote, "Very 2002!! Look is hella nostalgic.. reminds me of when the BET awards was fun!"

However, not everyone loved Doechii's bold outfit choice. For instance, one critic noted, "She looks a hot mess."

We doubt this criticism will get the up-and-comer down, as she's up for one of the big awards of the night. Specifically, earlier in June, the network named Doechii a contender in the Best New Artist category. She was nominated alongside Ambré, Coco Jones, FLO, GloRilla, Ice Spice and Lola Brooke.

Doechii is also slated to take the BET Awards stage as one of the evening's performers.

As for what viewers can expect from the evening? Connie Orlando, BET EVP for Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy, said in a statement, "We have an incredible lineup of performers who will take us on a musical journey, covering Hip Hop spanning every decade, style, and region. From music to dance and fashion, we are digging through every crate as we celebrate 50 years of Hip Hop and its diversity, evolution, and global impact."

She added, "This wall-to-wall party will reverberate with the amazing energy and passion these artists bring to the stage and the culture. Prepare for an unforgettable night of reunions and surprises as we celebrate Hip Hop's rich history, enduring legacy, and promising future.”
