Johnny Depp Forced to Cancel U.S. Shows Due to Injury
Johnny Depp's upcoming tour with his band, The Hollywood Vampires, is on hold.
According to TMZ, the actor and musician first injured his ankle during his press tour at Cannes Film Festival, then worsened it while trying to move forward with his scheduled musical performances.
Per an unidentified source, Depp reportedly now has a fracture, which led his medical team to ban him from flying in the near future, meaning at least the first three scheduled dates for his band's American performances won't be able to move forward as planned.
The source described Depp as "disappointed," telling TMZ, "Johnny went from two full days of press appearances in Cannes, straight to London for rehearsals and then played two tribute shows in honor of his dear friend, the late great Jeff Beck. His ankle was already bothering him at Cannes, and it got progressively worse, but he wanted to honor his commitments for 'Jeanne du Barry' and for Jeff. He’s devastated to postpone the shows..."
He's currently "rest[ing] up" so that the European dates of the tour will "go off without a hitch."
The group made up of Depp, Alice Cooper, Joe Perry and Tommy Henriksen was scheduled to play in Manchester, New Hampshire, Boston, and Bethel, New York this weekend. According to the publication, they're trying to reschedule the dates to the end of the tour, which wraps up in July.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star's Cannes appearance followed a controversial Dior campaign, with his daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, there to support him as cast members of Le Ravissement nonchalantly called the actor out during one of their events, displaying support for his ex-wife, Amber Heard, in the months after their viral defamation trial.
